Vincent’s first memories

Van Gogh walking tour in Zundert

The Van Gogh walking tour leads through the area in which Van Gogh was raised. The tour starts in front of the Van Gogh House at an audio pillar and leads through the garden with the well of the house in which he was born, past the sexton’s house and Protestant church with the cemetery where Vincent’s stillborn brother was buried, Zadkine’s Van Gogh Monument, and the Markt square.
The tour then takes you to the ‘Tuintjes’, sand paths between the beech hedges and past the farm fields to the creek where Vincent often played as a child. Farm life and the natural landscape around Zundert were a lasting source of inspiration for him. This is clearly visible in his later work.

Vincent’s letters about the landscape

Vincent wrote countless letters in his life. In some of theme, (Brabant’s) nature comes to life. Nature was Vincent van Gogh’s greatest source of inspiration, peace and solace. Nature, culture and our soil are inextricably linked together.

Nature is honest and versatile. Let us eat what nature offers us throughout the seasons. The Dutch Cuisine chefs are creative in using an entire product instead of just the most commonly used parts. From head to tail, without waste, and with vegetables playing the starring role.
